How the Supreme Court has made India a haven for sex trafficking and other human rights violations

The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that India’s controversial child sex trafficking law, which allows for the death penalty for anyone found involved in the trade, is unconstitutional.

In a decision that could set a precedent for other states and countries around the world, the court said the law violates human rights and the constitution.

It said the child sex trade is not confined to the home and can take place anywhere.

The government has been pushing for the law to be implemented since it was promulgated in 2014.
